Uses of Virata 90mg Tablet

Virata 90mg Tablet is used together with low-dose aspirin after a heart attack or an episode of unstable angina (acute coronary syndrome), including in people who have had a stent fitted. It lowers the risk of another heart attack, stroke, a clot forming inside a stent and death from heart disease. It may also be used longer term in some people with a past heart attack who remain at high risk.

How Virata 90mg Tablet works

Ticagrelor blocks a receptor on platelets called P2Y12. Platelets are the blood cells that clump together to form clots, and blocking this receptor makes them less sticky. This reduces the chance of a clot forming in narrowed coronary arteries or inside a stent.

Possible side effects

• Let your doctor know if you have had bleeding problems, a stroke caused by bleeding, severe liver disease, asthma or COPD, or a slow heart rhythm.
• Avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen unless advised, and tell your doctor about other blood thinners and medicines such as clarithromycin, some antifungals and HIV medicines.
• Breathlessness is common and often mild, but report it if it is troublesome. Discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding with your doctor.
