Uses of Getryl 2mg Tablet

Getryl 2mg Tablet is used together with diet and exercise to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It can be used on its own or with other diabetes medicines such as metformin or insulin. Good blood sugar control helps prevent long-term problems with the eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart.

How Getryl 2mg Tablet works

The most important side effect of Getryl 2mg Tablet is low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). Other side effects can include:

• Low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, hunger, fast heartbeat or confusion

• Headache or dizziness
• Weight gain

If you have signs of low blood sugar, take sugar, glucose or a sweet drink straight away and then eat a meal. Seek medical help if it does not improve or happens often.

• Take it with breakfast or the first main meal of the day, and do not skip meals.
• Check your blood sugar regularly as your doctor advises.
• Alcohol, heavy exercise and missed meals increase the risk of low blood sugar.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease or a G6PD deficiency.
• It is not used for type 1 diabetes, and is generally avoided in pregnancy.
