Migril Tablet

Migril Tablet is a tablet made by Glaxo Smithkline (paaris) that contains Ergotamine + Caffeine, an ergot alkaloid migraine medicine. It is used for migraine attacks and cluster headache. Pack size: 10 tablets.

Uses of Migril Tablet

Migril Tablet is used to treat migraine attacks that have not responded to simple painkillers, and occasionally cluster headaches. It is most effective when taken at the first sign of an attack. It is not used to prevent migraine, and is used less often today because newer medicines tend to have fewer side effects.

How Migril Tablet works

Ergotamine narrows the widened blood vessels around the brain that are linked to migraine pain and acts on serotonin receptors. Caffeine helps ergotamine be absorbed more quickly and adds to its effect on the blood vessels.

Possible side effects

Side effects are fairly common with Migril Tablet. They may include:

• Nausea or vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Dizziness
• Tingling in the fingers or toes
• Leg cramps or weakness
• Restlessness or trouble sleeping

Stop taking it and get urgent medical help if your fingers or toes become cold, numb, pale or blue, or if you have chest pain, severe muscle pain or signs of a stroke.

Precautions and warnings

• Do not exceed the weekly limits your doctor sets; overuse can cause serious circulation problems and medication-overuse headache.
• Do not take Migril Tablet if you have heart disease, circulation problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or severe liver or kidney disease.
• Dangerous reactions can occur with some antibiotics such as erythromycin and clarithromycin, some antifungals and certain HIV medicines; always mention all your medicines.
• Do not use it within a day of taking a triptan for migraine.
• It must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
