Uses of Xyloaid 10g Ointment

Xyloaid 10g Ointment creams and ointments are used to treat and help prevent minor bacterial skin infections, such as infected cuts, grazes and small burns, and some superficial skin infections. It is often combined with other antibiotics such as bacitracin or polymyxin, or with a steroid, and it is also found in some ear and eye preparations. It should be used only on small areas for short periods.

How Xyloaid 10g Ointment works

Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It attaches to the bacterial ribosome, the part of the cell that makes proteins, and causes faulty proteins to be produced. Without working proteins the bacteria die. It acts against many common skin bacteria but not against fungi or viruses.
