Indofer Plus Tablet

Indofer Plus Tablet contains Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose + Folic Acid, an iron and folic acid supplement. Made by Indus Pharma (PVT.) Ltd, it is used for iron deficiency anaemia, anaemia in pregnancy, iron deficiency and folate deficiency. Pack size: 20 tablets.

Uses of Indofer Plus Tablet

Indofer Plus Tablet is used to treat and prevent iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia, particularly during pregnancy and breastfeeding when the need for iron and folic acid is higher. It may also be used after blood loss, in growing teenagers and in people whose diet is low in iron. Folic acid supports healthy red blood cell production and the normal development of the baby in pregnancy.

How Indofer Plus Tablet works

Iron polymaltose is a non-ionic form of iron that is absorbed gradually from the gut and used to make haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. Folic acid is a B vitamin needed for making new red blood cells and for cell growth.

Possible side effects

Indofer Plus Tablet is usually gentle on the stomach compared with some other iron products. Possible side effects include:

• Dark or black stools
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Stomach discomfort
• Diarrhoea

Seek medical help if you notice signs of an allergic reaction, or if you have black, tarry stools with stomach pain or vomiting blood, as these may point to bleeding rather than the harmless darkening caused by iron.

Precautions and warnings

• Keep Indofer Plus Tablet out of the reach of children; accidental iron overdose is dangerous in young children.
• Tell your doctor if you have a condition causing iron overload, such as haemochromatosis or repeated blood transfusions, or anaemia not caused by iron deficiency.
• Take it a few hours apart from antacids, calcium, tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics and thyroxine, as they can affect absorption.
• Your doctor may check your blood count to see how well the treatment is working.
• It is commonly used in pregnancy and breastfeeding, but follow your doctor’s advice.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
