Uses of Predmide Eye Ointment

Predmide Eye Ointment eye drops are used for inflammatory eye conditions where there is also a bacterial infection or a risk of one, such as some forms of conjunctivitis, inflamed eyelids (blepharitis) and inflammation of the eye surface. The steroid calms redness and swelling while the antibiotic deals with bacteria. It should only be used after a doctor has examined the eye.

How Predmide Eye Ointment works

Sulfacetamide is a sulfonamide antibiotic that stops bacteria from making folic acid, which they need to grow and multiply. Prednisolone is a corticosteroid that dampens the inflammatory response in the eye, reducing redness, swelling, itching and discomfort.

Possible side effects

With Predmide Eye Ointment, side effects are usually confined to the eye and short-lived, such as:

• Stinging or burning on application
• Temporary blurred vision
• Eye irritation
• Watering

Precautions and warnings

Storage

Store below 30°C and keep the cap tightly closed. For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes unless the product is made for eye use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
