Plendil 5 mg Tablet contains Felodipine 5mg, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. Made by Barrett Hodgson Pakistan Ltd, it is prescribed for high blood pressure and angina. Pack size: 3 x 10 tablets.

Uses of Plendil 5 mg Tablet

Plendil 5 mg Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure, which lowers the risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney problems over time. It is also used to prevent angina, the chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle is short of oxygen. It is taken regularly as a long-acting tablet and does not relieve an angina attack once it has started.

How Plendil 5 mg Tablet works

Felodipine blocks calcium from entering the muscle cells in the walls of arteries. This relaxes and widens the blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and making it easier for blood and oxygen to reach the heart.

Possible side effects

Many side effects of Plendil 5 mg Tablet ease after the first few weeks. Common ones include:

• Ankle swelling
• Flushing
• Headache
• Palpitations
• Dizziness
• Swollen gums

Precautions and warnings

• Take it regularly and swallow the tablet whole, without crushing or chewing.
• Get up slowly from sitting or lying to reduce dizziness.
• Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, and tell your doctor about other medicines, including some antifungals, antibiotics such as clarithromycin, and epilepsy medicines.
• Tell your doctor if you have heart failure, a recent heart attack or liver problems.
• Not in pregnancy, and speak to your doctor before using it while breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
