Stiver 6 mg Tablet

Stiver 6 mg Tablet is a tablet made by WNS Field that contains Ivermectin 6mg, an antiparasitic medicine. It is used for scabies, strongyloides, river blindness, lymphatic filariasis and some other worm infections. Pack size: 1×10 tablets.

Uses of Stiver 6 mg Tablet

Stiver 6 mg Tablet is used to treat infections caused by certain parasites. It is prescribed for scabies, particularly crusted scabies or outbreaks where creams alone are not enough, and for strongyloidiasis, an intestinal worm infection. It is also used in river blindness (onchocerciasis) and in lymphatic filariasis programmes. It does not treat every type of worm, so the right medicine depends on the infection.

How Stiver 6 mg Tablet works

Ivermectin binds to channels in the nerve and muscle cells of parasites, making them leaky to chloride. This paralyses and kills the parasites or stops them from reproducing. At normal doses it has little effect on human nerves, because these channels are protected by the blood-brain barrier.

Possible side effects

Side effects of Stiver 6 mg Tablet are usually mild and short-lived. They can include:

• Dizziness
• Itching or rash, which may briefly worsen in scabies
• Nausea or diarrhoea
• Tiredness
• Headache

Get urgent medical help for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, a severe skin rash, confusion or unusual drowsiness.

Precautions and warnings

• Take it with water on an empty stomach, as your doctor or pharmacist advises.
• Tell your doctor if you have lived in or travelled to Central or West Africa, as people infected with the Loa loa worm can have serious brain reactions.
• For scabies, everyone in close contact usually needs treatment at the same time, and bedding and clothes should be washed on a hot cycle.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have liver disease, or take warfarin.
• It is not usually given to very young children below a certain body weight.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
