Uses of Algecal Tablet

Algecal Tablet is used to support small blood vessels in conditions where they become fragile or leaky. How Algecal Tablet works

Calcium dobesilate acts on the walls of capillaries and small veins. It makes them less leaky, so less fluid and protein escape into surrounding tissue, and it improves blood flow by reducing blood thickness and platelet clumping. This can ease swelling and help protect the tiny vessels of the retina.

Possible side effects

Side effects with Algecal Tablet are uncommon, and when they occur they are usually mild, for example:

• Nausea or stomach discomfort
• Diarrhoea
• Skin rash or itching
• Joint aches

Stop taking it and contact your doctor straight away if you develop fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers or other signs of infection, as these can rarely signal a serious drop in white blood cells.

Precautions and warnings

• Tell your doctor if you have had a blood disorder or a reaction to calcium dobesilate in the past.
• Continue your diabetes treatment and keep up regular eye examinations, as Algecal Tablet does not replace them.
• Let your doctor know if you have kidney problems.
• Use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if your doctor advises it.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
