Losar-Plus Tablet

Losar-Plus Tablet is a tablet made by Platinum Pharmaceuticals Ltd that contains Losartan + Hydrochlorothiazide, an angiotensin receptor blocker and diuretic combination for blood pressure. It is used for high blood pressure. Pack size: 20 tablets.

Uses of Losar-Plus Tablet

Losar-Plus Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure when a single medicine has not brought it down enough. Combining two medicines that work in different ways in one tablet often gives better control with fewer pills. Keeping blood pressure within target lowers the long-term risk of stroke, heart attack, heart failure and kidney damage, even though high blood pressure itself usually causes no symptoms.

How Losar-Plus Tablet works

Losartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels, so the vessels relax and widen. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water. Together they lower blood pressure more than either does alone.

Possible side effects

Most people adjust to Losar-Plus Tablet within a few weeks. Side effects that may occur include:

• Dizziness, especially when standing up
• Passing more urine than usual
• Tiredness
• Muscle cramps
• Headache

Get urgent help for swelling of the face, lips or tongue, difficulty breathing, fainting, or a severe skin rash. Contact your doctor promptly if you have sudden eye pain or reduced vision, or are passing very little urine.

Precautions and warnings

• It must not be used during pregnancy, so tell your doctor straight away if you are pregnant or planning to be; it is also not advised when breastfeeding.
• Your doctor will check your kidney function and blood levels of potassium and sodium, especially at the start.
• Tell your doctor if you have gout, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, or an allergy to sulfonamide (sulfa) medicines, as the diuretic can raise uric acid and blood sugar.
• Avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless advised, and check before taking NSAID painkillers or lithium.
• Hydrochlorothiazide can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, so use sun protection and report any new or changing skin lesions.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
