Uses of Mac Drop

Mac Drop is applied to the skin to relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints. It can help with back pain, stiffness, minor sprains and strains, and mild arthritis pain in joints such as the knees and hands. It eases symptoms locally and may be used alongside other treatments your doctor recommends.

How Mac Drop works

Capsaicin, from chilli peppers, first produces warmth and then gradually reduces the amount of a pain-signalling chemical called substance P in nerve endings, so fewer pain messages are sent. Menthol creates a cooling sensation that distracts from the pain and gives quick, soothing relief.

Possible side effects

Most side effects of Mac Drop are felt on the skin where it is applied. They include:

• Burning or warming sensation
• Stinging
• Redness of the skin
• Itching
• Coughing or sneezing if residue is breathed in

Wash it off and seek medical help if you have severe burning, blistering or swelling of the skin, or signs of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing.

Precautions and warnings

• For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nose and genitals.
• Wash your hands well after applying it, unless you are treating your hands.
• Do not apply to broken, irritated or freshly shaved skin, and do not use with heating pads, hot water bottles or tight bandages.
• Stop using it and see a doctor if pain lasts more than a week or keeps coming back.
• Ask a doctor before using it on children or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed and do not use it after the expiry date or the period stated on the label once opened. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
