Uses of Remac Syrup

Remac Syrup supplements are used to support eye health, particularly the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed vision. They are often taken by people with, or at risk of, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), sometimes as part of a formula with other antioxidant vitamins and minerals. They may help slow progression in some people but do not reverse vision loss.

How Remac Syrup works

Lutein and zeaxanthin are natural yellow pigments (carotenoids) found in green leafy vegetables, maize and egg yolks. They collect in the macula, where they filter harmful blue light and act as antioxidants, helping to protect the light-sensitive cells of the retina from damage.

Possible side effects

Remac Syrup is generally very well tolerated, and uncommon effects include:

• Mild stomach upset or indigestion
• Nausea
• Yellowish tinge to the skin with high intake
• Allergic skin reaction (rare)

See an eye doctor urgently if you notice sudden blurred or distorted vision, straight lines looking wavy, or a dark patch in the centre of your vision.

Precautions and warnings

• These supplements support eye health but do not replace regular eye examinations or treatment prescribed by your eye doctor.
• If you smoke or used to smoke, avoid formulas that also contain beta-carotene, as this has been linked to a higher risk of lung cancer.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor before taking supplements.
• Do not take more than the amount recommended on the pack.

Storage
