Uses of Tezox Vial 1gm

Tezox Vial 1gm is an injectable antibiotic used for moderate to severe bacterial infections, including chest infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, abdominal and gynaecological infections, bone and joint infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. It is also used for blood infections (septicaemia) and some cases of gonorrhoea. It is given into a muscle or vein, usually in hospital or a clinic.

Ceftizoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin. It blocks the enzymes bacteria use to build their cell wall, so the wall weakens and the bacteria burst and die. It is active against many Gram-negative bacteria that resist older antibiotics.

Possible side effects

• Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Skin rash or itching
• Fever

Stop and get medical help straight away for swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, a severe rash, or severe or bloody diarrhoea.

Precautions and warnings

• It is given in hospital or a clinic by trained healthcare professionals, who monitor you during treatment.
• Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to penicillin, a cephalosporin or any other antibiotic.
• Let your doctor know if you have kidney disease, as the dose may need adjusting, or a history of colitis.
