Zolp Tablets

Zolp Tablets contains Zolpidem, a short-acting sleeping medicine (Z-drug). Made by Adamjee Pharmaceuticals Ltd., it is prescribed for short-term insomnia. Pack size: 20 tablets.

Uses of Zolp Tablets

Zolp Tablets is used for the short-term treatment of severe insomnia, when difficulty falling or staying asleep is seriously affecting daily life. It is meant for a limited period, usually alongside advice on sleep habits and treatment of any underlying cause such as stress, pain or depression. It is not a long-term solution for poor sleep.

How Zolp Tablets works

Zolpidem acts on GABA-A receptors in the brain, boosting the effect of GABA, the brain’s main calming chemical messenger. This slows brain activity and helps you fall asleep. It acts quickly and wears off within a few hours, which is why it is taken only when you are ready to sleep.

Possible side effects

Some people notice side effects with Zolp Tablets, particularly the next day. Common ones include:

• Drowsiness the next morning
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea or diarrhoea
• Memory problems

Get medical help if you or others notice you doing things while not fully awake, such as sleep-walking, sleep-driving or eating with no memory of it, or if you have severe confusion, hallucinations, breathing difficulty or thoughts of self-harm.

Precautions and warnings

• Zolp Tablets can cause dependence, especially with longer use, so it is prescribed for the shortest time possible; after regular use, do not stop suddenly without your doctor’s advice, as rebound insomnia and withdrawal symptoms can occur.
• Never drink alcohol with it or combine it with other sedatives, opioids or sleeping medicines, as breathing can be dangerously slowed.
• Only take it when you can stay in bed for a full night’s sleep, and do not drive or use machinery the next morning if you still feel drowsy.
• Tell your doctor if you have breathing problems, sleep apnoea, myasthenia gravis, liver disease, depression or a history of drug or alcohol misuse.
• It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so discuss alternatives with your doctor.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
