Uses of Pk Merz Tablets

Pk Merz Tablets is used mainly to ease the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, such as stiffness, slowness and tremor. It can also reduce involuntary movements (dyskinesia) caused by long-term levodopa treatment, and some movement side effects of antipsychotic medicines. It was once used for influenza A, but resistance means it is rarely used for flu now.

How Pk Merz Tablets works

Amantadine increases the release of dopamine in the brain and blocks NMDA receptors, which are involved in abnormal movement signals. Together these effects help restore smoother control of movement in Parkinson’s disease.

Possible side effects

• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Trouble sleeping

• Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, epilepsy, heart failure, glaucoma or a history of mental health problems.
• It can cause dizziness, blurred vision or sudden sleepiness; do not drive until you know how it affects you, and avoid alcohol.
• Some people on Parkinson’s medicines develop strong urges such as gambling or overeating; tell your doctor if you or your family notice this.
• It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
