Uses of Drate 70mg Tablet

Drate 70mg Tablet is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis after the menopause, in men, and in people taking long-term steroids, to lower the risk of fractures of the spine and hip.

How Drate 70mg Tablet works

Alendronate slows the cells that break down bone, allowing bone density to improve.

Possible side effects

Common side effects of Drate 70mg Tablet include:

• Heartburn or indigestion
• Stomach pain
• Muscle, bone or joint pain
• Constipation or diarrhoea

Stop and see a doctor for pain on swallowing, new or worsening heartburn, jaw pain or loose teeth, or new thigh or groin pain.

Precautions and warnings

• Take it first thing in the morning with a full glass of plain water, at least 30 minutes before food, drink or other medicines.
• Stay upright for at least 30 minutes after taking it.
• Make sure you get enough calcium and vitamin D.
• Tell your dentist you take it, and keep good dental hygiene.
