Uses of Progynova Tablet

Progynova Tablet is used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to relieve menopause symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes and vaginal dryness. It may also help prevent osteoporosis in women at risk. Gynaecologists also use it in some fertility treatments to prepare the womb lining. Women with a womb usually also need a progestogen.

How Progynova Tablet works

Estradiol is the main oestrogen made by the ovaries. After the menopause, levels fall sharply; taking estradiol replaces this hormone, which eases symptoms caused by oestrogen loss and helps protect bone strength. It also thickens the womb lining.

Possible side effects

Progynova Tablet often causes mild effects in the first few months, such as:

• Breast tenderness or swelling
• Nausea
• Spotting or breakthrough bleeding

• Leg cramps

Precautions and warnings

• If you still have a womb, a progestogen is usually needed as well to protect the womb lining.

• Attend breast screening and tell your doctor if you need surgery or long periods of immobility.

Storage
