Uses of Tincture Benzoin Co

Tincture Benzoin Co, also known as Friar’s balsam, is mainly added to hot water and its vapour inhaled to ease a blocked nose, catarrh, sinus congestion and colds. It can also be applied to minor cuts, cracked skin or sore spots as a protective coating, and is sometimes used to help dressings stick to the skin.

How Tincture Benzoin Co works

Benzoin, storax and tolu balsam are aromatic plant resins. When inhaled in steam, their vapours help loosen mucus and soothe the airways. On the skin they form a sticky protective film with mild antiseptic properties, while aloe adds a soothing effect.

Possible side effects

Side effects of Tincture Benzoin Co are uncommon but can include:
