Estezene 1mg Tablet, made by Adamjee Pharmaceuticals Ltd., is a phenothiazine antipsychotic. Its active ingredient is Trifluoperazine 1mg, and it is used for schizophrenia, other psychoses, severe anxiety, severe agitation and severe nausea and vomiting. Pack size: 100 tablets.

Uses of Estezene 1mg Tablet

Estezene 1mg Tablet is used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses, helping to reduce symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions and muddled thinking. At low strength it is sometimes used for a short period to control severe anxiety or agitation that has not responded to other treatment, and occasionally for severe nausea and vomiting.

How Estezene 1mg Tablet works

Trifluoperazine blocks dopamine D2 receptors in the brain, calming the overactive dopamine signalling linked to psychotic symptoms. The same action in the brain’s vomiting centre explains its anti-sickness effect. Dopamine blockade in the movement areas of the brain is also why it can cause stiffness or tremor.

Possible side effects

Not everyone gets side effects with Estezene 1mg Tablet, but the ones reported most often include:

• Drowsiness
• Muscle stiffness or tremor
• Restlessness
• Dry mouth or blurred vision
• Dizziness on standing up
• Weight gain

Seek urgent medical help for a high fever with severe muscle stiffness, sweating or confusion, uncontrollable movements of the face, tongue or limbs, fainting or a fast irregular heartbeat, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Precautions and warnings

• Do not stop taking Estezene 1mg Tablet suddenly; if it needs to be stopped, your doctor will reduce it gradually.
• Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, glaucoma, liver problems or difficulty passing urine.
• It can cause drowsiness, so avoid alcohol and do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
• Older people with dementia have a higher risk of stroke with antipsychotic medicines, so it is used in this group only with great care.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before using it.

Storage
