Akso-D 265 mg Tablet, made by Akson, is an antidiarrhoeal and stomach-settling medicine. Its active ingredient is Bismuth Subsalicylate 265mg, and it is used for diarrhoea, travellers' diarrhoea and indigestion. Pack size: 2×10 tablets.

Uses of Akso-D 265 mg Tablet

Akso-D 265 mg Tablet is used for short-term relief of diarrhoea, including travellers’ diarrhoea, and for upset stomach, heartburn, indigestion and nausea. It is also used by doctors as part of combination treatment for H. pylori stomach infection. It eases symptoms while the gut recovers, and drinking plenty of fluids remains important during diarrhoea.

How Akso-D 265 mg Tablet works

Bismuth subsalicylate coats the lining of the stomach and gut. The salicylate part reduces inflammation and fluid secretion into the bowel, while bismuth has a mild antibacterial effect and helps bind toxins.

Possible side effects

Akso-D 265 mg Tablet commonly causes harmless darkening of the tongue or stools. Other side effects can include:

• Black tongue or black stools
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Ringing in the ears with large amounts

Precautions and warnings

• Do not give it to children or teenagers who have or are recovering from chickenpox or flu-like illness, because of the risk of Reye’s syndrome.

• Tell your doctor if you take warfarin, aspirin, diabetes medicines or tetracycline antibiotics.
• Avoid it during pregnancy, especially late pregnancy, and while breastfeeding.
• Drink plenty of fluids or oral rehydration solution while you have diarrhoea.

Storage
