Uses of Monofer 100mg|ml Injection

Monofer 100mg|ml Injection contains iron isomaltoside, also called ferric derisomaltose. It is used to treat iron deficiency anaemia when iron tablets do not work or are not tolerated, or when iron needs to be replaced quickly, for example later in pregnancy, before surgery, or in people with kidney disease or inflammatory bowel disease. It is given as a drip or slow injection into a vein.

How Monofer 100mg|ml Injection works

Iron isomaltoside contains iron tightly bound to a sugar-based carrier. After the infusion, the iron is released gradually to the body’s iron stores and bone marrow, where it is used to make haemoglobin and new red blood cells, restoring iron levels faster than tablets.
