Uses of Burnasil 1% Cream

Burnasil 1% Cream is used to prevent and treat infection in burns, particularly partial-thickness and deeper burns, and in some other wounds, skin graft sites and leg ulcers. Burnt skin loses its natural barrier, making infection a serious risk, and the cream helps protect the wound while it heals. Large, deep or facial burns should always be assessed by a doctor.

How Burnasil 1% Cream works

Silver sulfadiazine combines silver, which damages bacterial cell membranes, with sulfadiazine, a sulfonamide antibacterial. Together they are active against a wide range of bacteria and some yeasts commonly found in burn wounds, slowing their growth on the wound surface.

Possible side effects

Side effects with Burnasil 1% Cream mostly affect the treated area. They may include:

• Burning or stinging when applied
• Itching or rash
