Mefar 50 mg Suspension contains Mefenamic Acid 50mg, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkiller (NSAID). Made by Meditech, it is prescribed for period pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, headache, toothache and mild to moderate pain. Pack size: 60 ml suspension.

Uses of Mefar 50 mg Suspension

Mefar 50 mg Suspension is used for mild to moderate pain, and is especially known for relieving period pain (dysmenorrhoea) and reducing heavy menstrual bleeding. It is also used for headache, toothache, muscle pain and pain after minor procedures.

How Mefar 50 mg Suspension works

Mefenamic acid reduces the production of prostaglandins, which cause pain and inflammation and also play a role in cramping and bleeding during periods.

• Diarrhoea
• Indigestion or stomach pain
• Nausea
• Dizziness or drowsiness
• Skin rash

Stop taking it and see a doctor if you develop diarrhoea that does not settle, black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, or swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.

Precautions and warnings

• Take it with or after food to reduce stomach upset.
• Tell your doctor if you have, or have had, a stomach ulcer, stomach bleeding, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, or kidney or liver problems.
• Do not take it together with other painkillers of the same type (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen or aspirin unless your doctor advises it.
• Avoid it in the last three months of pregnancy, and ask your doctor before using it at any other stage of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed.

Storage

Store the dry powder below 30°C in a dry place. Once mixed with water, follow the storage and discard instructions printed on the pack, and shake well before each use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
