Uses of Brimo T E/D 5ml 1s

Brimo T E/D 5ml 1s eye drops are used to lower raised pressure inside the eye in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, usually when one type of eye drop alone has not brought the pressure down enough. Lowering eye pressure helps protect the optic nerve and reduces the risk of gradual, permanent loss of vision. The drops need to be used every day to keep working.

How Brimo T E/D 5ml 1s works

Brimonidine reduces the amount of fluid produced inside the eye and helps fluid drain out. Timolol, a beta-blocker, also cuts down the production of this fluid. Working together, the two ingredients lower eye pressure more than either one does alone.

Possible side effects

With Brimo T E/D 5ml 1s, the most frequent side effects affect the eyes and are usually mild:

• Eye redness, burning or stinging
• Itchy eyes or eyelids
• Dry mouth
• Tiredness or drowsiness
• Headache

Get medical help straight away if you have wheezing or breathlessness, a very slow or irregular heartbeat, fainting, or swelling of the face and eyelids.

Precautions and warnings

• Tell your doctor if you have asthma, COPD, a slow heart rate, heart block or heart failure, as timolol can be absorbed into the body.
• It is not suitable for babies and young children, and should be used in pregnancy or breastfeeding only if your doctor advises.
• Mention other medicines you take, especially beta-blocker tablets, heart rhythm medicines and antidepressants.
• Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye, and remove soft contact lenses before use, waiting at least 15 minutes before putting them back.
• It can cause drowsiness or blurred vision, so take care with driving until you know how it affects you.

Storage

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed and do not use it after the expiry date or the period stated on the label once opened. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
