Cesod 2gm Injection

Cesod 2gm Injection is an injection made by Amson Farmaco Biologic that contains Ceftriaxone 2g, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic given by injection. It is used for typhoid fever, pneumonia, meningitis, blood infections, urinary tract infections, gonorrhoea, and infections of the skin, bones and abdomen. Pack size: 1 vial injection.

Uses of Cesod 2gm Injection

Cesod 2gm Injection is used for serious bacterial infections, often in hospital. In Pakistan it is commonly used for typhoid fever, as well as pneumonia and other chest infections, meningitis, blood infections (septicaemia), complicated urinary tract infections, gonorrhoea, and infections of the skin, bones, joints and abdomen. It is also given before some operations to prevent infection.

How Cesod 2gm Injection works

Ceftriaxone kills bacteria by stopping them from building their cell wall. It stays in the body for a long time, which is why it is usually given once a day. Cesod 2gm Injection is given as an injection into a vein or muscle by a doctor or nurse, usually in hospital or a clinic.

Possible side effects

Most people tolerate Cesod 2gm Injection well. Common side effects include:

• Pain, swelling or redness at the injection site
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Skin rash
• Changes in some blood test results

Stop and get medical help straight away if you notice swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, a severe skin rash, or severe or bloody diarrhoea.

Precautions and warnings

• It must not be mixed with calcium-containing drips, and it is used with special care in newborn babies.
• Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any antibiotic, especially penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Finish the full course your doctor prescribes, even if you feel better earlier. Stopping early can let the infection return and makes resistance more likely.
• Let your doctor know if you have kidney or liver disease.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use Cesod 2gm Injection only after speaking to your doctor.
• Do not share your antibiotics with others or keep leftover medicine for future use.

Storage

Store as directed on the pack, protected from light. Injections should only be prepared and given by a doctor, nurse or other trained healthcare professional. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
