Cipol-N 25mg Tablet is a tablet made by Aster that contains Ciclosporin 25mg, a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant. It is used for organ transplant, severe psoriasis, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis and nephrotic syndrome. Pack size: 50 tablets.

Uses of Cipol-N 25mg Tablet

Cipol-N 25mg Tablet is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted kidney, liver, heart or other organ, and after bone marrow transplants. It is also used for severe psoriasis and eczema, rheumatoid arthritis and nephrotic syndrome when other treatments have not worked well enough. Eye drop forms are used for severe dry eye disease. Treatment is closely supervised by a specialist.

How Cipol-N 25mg Tablet works

Ciclosporin blocks calcineurin, an enzyme that T-cells need to switch on and release signalling chemicals such as interleukin-2. With T-cells held back, the immune system is less able to attack a transplanted organ or the body’s own skin and joints. It does not significantly suppress the bone marrow.

Possible side effects

Cipol-N 25mg Tablet needs careful monitoring because some side effects only show up on tests. Common effects include:

• Raised blood pressure
• Reduced kidney function
• Swollen or overgrown gums
• Shaking hands (tremor)
• Increased hair growth
• Nausea or stomach upset

Contact your doctor urgently if you develop signs of infection such as fever or sore throat, pass much less urine, have a severe headache, confusion, fits or vision changes, or notice yellow skin or eyes.

Precautions and warnings

• Regular blood tests for kidney function and drug levels, plus blood pressure checks, are essential while taking Cipol-N 25mg Tablet.

• Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, and tell your doctor about all medicines and herbal products, as many, including St John’s wort, some antibiotics, antifungals and NSAIDs, change its levels or effects. Avoid potassium supplements unless advised.
• It increases the risk of infections and skin cancer, so protect your skin from the sun and avoid live vaccines.
• Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
