Uses of Hicap M Tablet

Hicap M Tablet is used to treat and prevent iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia, including during pregnancy, after blood loss, with heavy periods, and when diet does not provide enough iron.

How Hicap M Tablet works

Iron is needed to make haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. In this form the iron is bound to a protein, which is released gradually in the gut and tends to be gentler on the stomach.

Possible side effects

Hicap M Tablet is generally well tolerated. Some people notice:

• Dark or black stools (harmless)
• Constipation or diarrhoea
• Nausea or stomach discomfort

Keep iron supplements out of reach of children; an overdose can be very dangerous for a child.

Precautions and warnings

• Tell your doctor if you are allergic to milk protein.
• Tea, coffee, milk and antacids reduce iron absorption, so keep a gap between them and your iron.
