Hilrace 30mg Sachet, made by Hilton Pharmaceuticals, is an anti-secretory anti-diarrhoea medicine. Its active ingredient is Racecadotril 30mg, and it is used for acute diarrhoea in adults and children. Pack size: 10 sachets.

Uses of Hilrace 30mg Sachet

Hilrace 30mg Sachet is used together with oral rehydration solution to reduce watery diarrhoea in adults, children and infants over three months. It shortens the episode and reduces the amount of fluid lost, helping to prevent dehydration. It is meant for short-lived diarrhoea, not for diarrhoea with blood or high fever, or long-standing bowel problems, which need a doctor’s assessment.

How Hilrace 30mg Sachet works

Racecadotril blocks an enzyme called enkephalinase in the gut wall. This lets natural substances called enkephalins work for longer, and they reduce the excess water and salts pouring into the bowel during diarrhoea. Unlike loperamide, it does not slow down bowel movement.

Possible side effects

Hilrace 30mg Sachet is usually well tolerated, and side effects are uncommon. They can include:

• Headache
• Skin rash or redness
• Itching
• Mild stomach discomfort

Precautions and warnings

• Always give ORS alongside it, as replacing fluids and salts is the most important part of treating diarrhoea.
• Do not use it for diarrhoea with blood or fever, or diarrhoea caused by antibiotics, without medical advice.
• Tell your doctor if you take an ACE inhibitor for blood pressure, as the combination may increase the risk of facial swelling.
• Let your doctor know about kidney or liver disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• See a doctor if diarrhoea does not improve within a few days.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
