Uses of Medberri Sachet

Medberri Sachet sachets, capsules and drinks are used to help prevent repeated urinary tract infections, particularly in women who get cystitis often. Some people find it reduces how often infections return, although research results are mixed. It is a preventive supplement only, so a current infection with burning, frequent urination or fever needs proper assessment and, often, antibiotics.

How Medberri Sachet works

Cranberry contains natural compounds called proanthocyanidins, which may stop certain bacteria, especially E. coli, from sticking to the lining of the bladder and urinary tract. Bacteria that cannot attach are more easily flushed out with the urine.

Possible side effects

Medberri Sachet is generally safe for most people. Occasionally it causes:

• Mild stomach upset
• Heartburn
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea, especially with large amounts

See a doctor for burning when passing urine, fever, back pain or blood in the urine, as an active infection needs proper treatment. Get urgent help if you notice signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.

Precautions and warnings

• It does not treat an existing urinary infection.
• Tell your doctor if you take warfarin, as cranberry may affect how it works and your INR may need checking.
• Ask your doctor before using it if you have had kidney stones.
• Some drinks and sachets contain sugar, which people with diabetes should take into account.
• Check with your doctor or pharmacist before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
