Promto 10mg Tablet contains Rabeprazole 10mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Made by Scilife Pharma Ltd, it is prescribed for acid reflux (GERD), heartburn, stomach and duodenal ulcers, H. pylori infection and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pack size: 10 tablets.

Uses of Promto 10mg Tablet

Promto 10mg Tablet is used to treat acid reflux (gastro-oesophageal reflux disease), the heartburn and inflammation of the food pipe it causes, and to stop reflux from coming back. It also heals stomach and duodenal ulcers, and is combined with antibiotics to clear H. pylori, a bacterium behind many ulcers. It is used too for rare conditions in which the stomach makes far too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

How Promto 10mg Tablet works

Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It switches off the proton pumps in the stomach lining, which carry out the final step in acid production, so the stomach makes much less acid. This relieves heartburn and gives inflamed or ulcerated areas the chance to heal.

Possible side effects

Promto 10mg Tablet is usually well tolerated. When side effects happen, they tend to be mild and include:

• Headache
• Diarrhoea
• Stomach pain or wind
• Nausea
• Constipation

See a doctor promptly for persistent or watery diarrhoea, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, or a rash on sun-exposed skin with joint pain.

Precautions and warnings

• Long-term use can lower magnesium and vitamin B12 levels and may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures, so your doctor should review whether you still need it.
• Tell your doctor about other medicines you take, especially methotrexate, warfarin, digoxin and some HIV medicines.
• Let your doctor know if you have liver disease or osteoporosis.
• PPIs can mask the symptoms of more serious stomach problems, so report any warning signs rather than continuing to treat them yourself.
• Ask your doctor before using it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
