Trihemic 600mg Tablet, made by Ici Pharmaceuticals, is an iron and vitamin supplement for anaemia. Its active ingredient is Ferrous Fumarate + Folic Acid + Vitamin B12 + Vitamin C 600mg, and it is used for iron deficiency anaemia, anaemia in pregnancy, folate deficiency and nutritional anaemia. Uses of Trihemic 600mg Tablet

Trihemic 600mg Tablet is used to prevent and treat anaemia caused by low iron, folic acid or vitamin B12. It is often recommended during pregnancy, after blood loss, during recovery from illness and for people whose diet does not provide enough of these nutrients. Correcting anaemia can help with tiredness, weakness, pale skin and shortness of breath, although it usually takes several weeks for blood levels to recover.

How Trihemic 600mg Tablet works

Ferrous fumarate supplies the iron the body needs to make haemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying part of red blood cells. Folic acid and vitamin B12 are needed for red blood cells to form and mature normally, while vitamin C helps the gut absorb more of the iron.

Possible side effects

Iron preparations like Trihemic 600mg Tablet commonly affect the stomach and bowels. Side effects you may notice include:

• Dark or black stools
• Constipation
• Nausea or stomach upset
• Stomach cramps
• Diarrhoea

Get medical help urgently if you develop signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or difficulty breathing, or if you notice black, tarry stools with stomach pain or vomiting blood.

Precautions and warnings

• Tell your doctor if you have haemochromatosis, thalassaemia or any condition that causes iron overload, or if you have repeated blood transfusions.
• Iron can reduce the absorption of some antibiotics such as tetracyclines and quinolones, as well as levothyroxine, so leave a gap of a few hours between them.
• Antacids, tea, coffee and milk can reduce iron absorption, so avoid taking them at the same time as Trihemic 600mg Tablet.
• Keep iron tablets well out of reach of children, as an accidental overdose can be very dangerous for a child.
• Have your blood count checked as advised so your doctor can see whether the anaemia is improving and find its cause.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
