Uses of Vemlidy 25mg Tablet

Vemlidy 25mg Tablet is used to treat long-term (chronic) hepatitis B infection in adults and adolescents, helping to keep the virus suppressed and protect the liver from further damage. It is also a component of several combination tablets used to treat and, in some cases, prevent HIV infection. It controls these viruses rather than clearing them, so treatment is usually long term.

How Vemlidy 25mg Tablet works

Tenofovir alafenamide is converted inside cells to tenofovir, which blocks the reverse transcriptase enzyme that hepatitis B and HIV need to copy their genetic material. Because it concentrates inside the target cells, lower blood levels are needed, which is gentler on the kidneys and bones than older tenofovir.
