Uses of Ertuget 15mg Tablet

Ertuget 15mg Tablet is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It can be taken alone or alongside other diabetes medicines such as metformin or sitagliptin, and is sometimes supplied in combination tablets. Better sugar control over time helps lower the risk of complications affecting the eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart.

How Ertuget 15mg Tablet works

Ertugliflozin blocks a protein called SGLT2 in the kidneys, which normally reabsorbs sugar back into the blood. With this protein blocked, extra glucose is passed out in the urine, lowering blood sugar levels. Because it does not force the pancreas to release insulin, it rarely causes low blood sugar on its own.

• Genital thrush (fungal infection)
• Urinary tract infections
• Passing more urine
• Thirst
• Dizziness on standing

Seek urgent help if you have nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, unusual tiredness or fast, deep breathing, as these can be signs of ketoacidosis, even when blood sugar is not very high. Also get help quickly for pain, tenderness or swelling around the genitals or back passage with fever.

Precautions and warnings

• Drink enough fluids, especially in hot weather or if you have diarrhoea or vomiting, to avoid dehydration.
• Your doctor may advise pausing it before surgery or during a serious illness, because of the risk of ketoacidosis.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, a history of foot ulcers or amputation, or if you take water tablets or insulin.
• It is not used for type 1 diabetes and is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep up regular blood sugar and kidney function checks.
