Sparaxin 100mg Tablet

Sparaxin 100mg Tablet is a tablet made by Abbott Laboratories (pakistan) Ltd that contains Sparfloxacin 100mg, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is used for chest infections, community-acquired pneumonia, flare-ups of chronic bronchitis and sinusitis. Pack size: 10 tablets.

Uses of Sparaxin 100mg Tablet

Sparaxin 100mg Tablet is used to treat certain bacterial infections, mainly of the chest and airways, such as pneumonia caught outside hospital and flare-ups of chronic bronchitis. It may also be used for sinus infections. Because of its side effects, it is generally kept for cases where other antibiotics are unsuitable. It does not work for viral infections such as colds and flu.

How Sparaxin 100mg Tablet works

Sparfloxacin blocks two bacterial enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, that bacteria need to copy and repair their DNA. Without them the bacteria cannot multiply and die, allowing the infection to clear.

Possible side effects

Some people get side effects with Sparaxin 100mg Tablet. The more common ones are:

• Increased sensitivity to sunlight
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Difficulty sleeping

Stop taking it and get medical help quickly for palpitations or fainting, a severe sunburn-like rash or blistering, pain or swelling in a tendon, tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, or severe or bloody diarrhoea.

Precautions and warnings

• Avoid sunlight and sunbeds during treatment and for a few days afterwards, and cover up outdoors.
• Tell your doctor if you have heart rhythm problems or take medicines that affect heart rhythm, epilepsy, or myasthenia gravis.
• Antacids, iron, zinc and calcium supplements reduce its absorption, so take them at a different time.
• It is not normally used in children, teenagers, pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Finish the full course your doctor prescribes, even if you feel better earlier.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
