Penvee Forte 250mg Suspension contains Phenoxymethylpenicillin (Penicillin V) 250mg, a penicillin antibiotic. Made by Polyfine, it is prescribed for throat infections, rheumatic fever prevention, skin infections and dental infections. Pack size: 60ml suspension.

Uses of Penvee Forte 250mg Suspension

Penvee Forte 250mg Suspension is used to treat infections caused by bacteria sensitive to penicillin, especially streptococcal sore throat and tonsillitis, some skin infections such as cellulitis and erysipelas, and dental infections. It is also taken long term to prevent repeat attacks of rheumatic fever and to protect people without a working spleen, including those with sickle cell disease. It does not work for viral infections.

How Penvee Forte 250mg Suspension works

Phenoxymethylpenicillin stops bacteria from building their cell walls. The weakened bacteria burst and die, allowing the immune system to clear the infection. Unlike injectable benzylpenicillin, it is stable in stomach acid, so it can be taken by mouth.
