Uses of Alkacitron Syrup 120ml

Alkacitron Syrup 120ml is used to relieve the burning and discomfort of passing urine that comes with mild cystitis, by making the urine less acidic. Doctors also use urinary alkalisers to help prevent certain kidney stones, such as uric acid and some calcium stones, and to reduce urine acidity in people with gout. It eases symptoms but does not kill the bacteria behind a urine infection.

How Alkacitron Syrup 120ml works

The citrate in this medicine is absorbed and converted by the body into bicarbonate, which is then passed out through the kidneys. This raises the pH of the urine, making it less acidic, which reduces stinging and makes it harder for some types of stone to form.

Possible side effects

Side effects of Alkacitron Syrup 120ml are usually mild and related to the stomach, such as:
