Bonjela Gel (10gm) 8.7%/0.01% Gel is used to relieve pain and soreness in the mouth caused by mouth ulcers, denture sores and minor irritation of the gums or lining of the mouth. It is applied directly to the sore area for quick local relief. It is no longer recommended for teething in babies or for children under 16, because it is related to aspirin.

Choline salicylate is a salicylate, chemically related to aspirin. When applied in the mouth it is absorbed into the tissue, where it reduces the production of prostaglandins, the chemicals that cause pain and inflammation. Many gels also contain a mild antiseptic.
