Lasoride Tablet

Lasoride Tablet, made by Sanofi Aventis Pakistan Limited, is a potassium-sparing combination diuretic (water tablet). Its active ingredient is Furosemide + Amiloride, and it is used for fluid retention, heart failure and swelling due to liver disease. Pack size: 30 tablets.

Uses of Lasoride Tablet

Lasoride Tablet is used to remove excess fluid from the body when it builds up and causes swelling (oedema), for example in heart failure or liver disease. Clearing the extra fluid eases swelling of the legs and ankles and can make breathing easier. The combination is chosen when a strong water tablet is needed but potassium loss is a concern.

How Lasoride Tablet works

Furosemide is a loop diuretic that makes the kidneys pass more salt and water, increasing the amount of urine. Amiloride is a milder diuretic that helps the body hold on to potassium, balancing the potassium loss that furosemide would otherwise cause.

Possible side effects

You will pass more urine after taking Lasoride Tablet, which is expected. Other common effects include:

• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Thirst or dry mouth
• Muscle cramps
• Upset stomach
• Headache

Get medical help quickly if you have muscle weakness, an irregular heartbeat, confusion, severe dizziness or fainting, or are passing very little urine.

Precautions and warnings

• Your doctor will arrange blood tests to check kidney function and salt levels, including potassium.
• Do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless your doctor advises, and mention medicines such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, lithium and anti-inflammatory painkillers.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes, gout or difficulty passing urine.
• It is not usually used in pregnancy or breastfeeding without specialist advice.
• Get up slowly from sitting or lying, and follow your doctor’s advice on fluids, especially in hot weather or if you have diarrhoea or vomiting.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
