Mimcipar 30mg Tablet contains Cinacalcet 30mg, a calcimimetic medicine. Made by Biocare Pharmaceutica, it is prescribed for secondary hyperparathyroidism in kidney disease, primary hyperparathyroidism and parathyroid cancer. Pack size: 10 tablets.

Uses of Mimcipar 30mg Tablet

Mimcipar 30mg Tablet is used to lower high levels of parathyroid hormone in people with long-term kidney disease on dialysis, a condition called secondary hyperparathyroidism. It is also used to reduce high blood calcium caused by parathyroid cancer and, in some patients, primary hyperparathyroidism when surgery is not possible. Controlling these levels helps protect the bones, heart and blood vessels.

How Mimcipar 30mg Tablet works

Cinacalcet makes the calcium-sensing receptors on the parathyroid glands more sensitive to calcium in the blood. The glands then ‘think’ calcium levels are adequate and release less parathyroid hormone, which in turn lowers blood calcium and phosphate.

Possible side effects

Stomach-related effects are the most common with Mimcipar 30mg Tablet, and include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Reduced appetite
• Dizziness
• Muscle aches

Get medical help quickly if you notice tingling around the mouth or in the fingers, muscle cramps or spasms, fits (seizures) or a fast or irregular heartbeat, as these can be signs of low calcium.

Precautions and warnings

• Your calcium and parathyroid hormone levels will be checked regularly, especially when starting treatment.
• Tell your doctor if you have ever had seizures or have liver disease.
• Some medicines, including certain antifungals and antidepressants, can interact with Mimcipar 30mg Tablet, so share a full list of what you take.

Storage
