Nasonex 0.1 % Cream is a combination medicine whose main active ingredient is Fusidic Acid + Hydrocortisone, an antibiotic and mild steroid cream made by Serving Health Pakistan. It is commonly used for infected eczema, infected dermatitis and inflamed skin infections. Composition as listed by the manufacturer: Nasonex 0.1 % cream is composed of Hydrocortisone and Fusidic Acid, topical (0.1 %). Pack size: 5 gm cream.
Uses of Nasonex 0.1 % Cream
Nasonex 0.1 % Cream cream is used for eczema or dermatitis that has become infected with bacteria, usually staphylococci. Signs of infection can include weeping, crusting, yellow scabs or worsening redness on top of an itchy rash. The cream treats the infection and the inflammation together, so it is meant for short courses, not as a routine moisturiser or for everyday skin care.
How Nasonex 0.1 % Cream works
Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that stops bacteria making the proteins they need to grow, clearing the infection on the skin. Hydrocortisone is a mild steroid that calms inflammation, reducing redness, swelling and itching while the skin heals.
How to use
Use Nasonex 0.1 % Cream exactly as directed on the pack or by your doctor or pharmacist. This product should be used under medical supervision.
Possible side effects
Side effects with Nasonex 0.1 % Cream are uncommon and usually limited to the treated area. They may include:
- Itching or burning where applied
- Mild stinging
- Redness or irritation
- Dry skin
- Contact allergy causing a rash
Stop using it and see a doctor if the rash spreads, becomes more painful or swollen, or if you get a fever. Seek urgent help for swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.
Precautions and warnings
- Use it only for the short period your doctor advises, usually no more than two weeks, because longer use encourages bacteria to become resistant to fusidic acid.
- Apply a thin layer only to the affected skin, and avoid long-term use on the face, skin folds or nappy area.
- It is not a fairness or skin-lightening cream and should not be used on acne, rosacea or untreated fungal or viral infections such as cold sores.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using it over large areas.
- Wash your hands after applying it, unless your hands are the area being treated.
Storage
Store below 30°C and keep the cap tightly closed. For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes unless the product is made for eye use. Keep all medicines and supplements out of the reach of children.
