Plasenzyme Tablet

Plasenzyme Tablet is a tablet made by Pacific Pharma that contains Metoclopramide + Bromelain + Pancreatin + Simethicone + Sodium Dehydrocholate, a combination of a prokinetic, digestive enzymes and an anti-gas agent. It is used for indigestion, bloating, flatulence, nausea, delayed stomach emptying and dyspepsia. Pack size: 3 x 10 tablets.

Uses of Plasenzyme Tablet

Plasenzyme Tablet is used for short-term relief of indigestion and related symptoms such as bloating, excess wind, a feeling of fullness after meals, nausea and discomfort caused by slow digestion or poor digestion of fatty or protein-rich food. It is usually prescribed when these symptoms occur together. Long-term use is not recommended because of the metoclopramide content.

How Plasenzyme Tablet works

Metoclopramide helps the stomach empty more quickly and reduces nausea. Bromelain and pancreatin are digestive enzymes that help break down proteins, fats and starches. Simethicone breaks up gas bubbles to ease bloating, and sodium dehydrocholate stimulates the flow of bile, which helps with fat digestion.

Possible side effects

Most people tolerate Plasenzyme Tablet well for short courses, though some notice:

• Drowsiness or tiredness
• Restlessness
• Diarrhoea
• Mild stomach discomfort
• Headache

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you develop uncontrollable movements of the face, tongue, eyes or neck, muscle stiffness with high fever, a fast or irregular heartbeat, or a severe allergic reaction.

Precautions and warnings

• Use Plasenzyme Tablet only for the short period your doctor recommends, as longer use of metoclopramide increases the risk of movement disorders that may be permanent.
• Do not take it if you have a blockage, bleeding or perforation of the stomach or bowel, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease or a tumour of the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma).
• It is generally not given to children and young people unless a specialist advises it, and should be used with care in older adults.
• Metoclopramide can cause drowsiness; avoid alcohol and do not drive if affected. Tell your doctor if you take antipsychotics, antidepressants or medicines for Parkinson’s disease.
• Pancreatin is usually obtained from pigs; ask your pharmacist if this is a concern. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
