Phlogenzyme Tablet

Phlogenzyme Tablet, made by Pacific Pharma, is an oral enzyme combination with a plant flavonoid. Its active ingredient is Bromelain + Trypsin + Rutoside, and it is used for swelling after injuries or surgery, sprains and bruises, superficial thrombophlebitis, soft tissue inflammation and osteoarthritis flare-ups. Pack size: 2 x 20 tablets.

Uses of Phlogenzyme Tablet

Phlogenzyme Tablet is used to help reduce swelling and inflammation, particularly after sports injuries, sprains, bruises, fractures or surgery. It is also used alongside other treatment for superficial vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis), painful soft tissue conditions and flare-ups of osteoarthritis. It supports the body’s natural healing process and is usually taken for a limited period.

How Phlogenzyme Tablet works

Bromelain (from pineapple) and trypsin are protein-digesting enzymes that help break down inflammatory proteins and fluid build-up in injured tissue, so swelling settles faster. Rutoside (rutin) is a plant flavonoid that strengthens small blood vessels and reduces leakage of fluid into the surrounding tissue.

Possible side effects

Phlogenzyme Tablet rarely causes problems, but a few people notice:

• Changes in stool consistency
• Feeling full or bloated
• Nausea
• Mild stomach discomfort
• Skin rash

Seek medical help immediately if you develop swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, a widespread rash, or any unusual bleeding or bruising.

Precautions and warnings

• Do not take it if you are allergic to pineapple or to any of the enzymes it contains.
• Tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners such as warfarin, aspirin or clopidogrel, as the enzymes may increase the risk of bleeding.
• Let your surgeon or dentist know you are taking it before any planned operation.
• Bromelain can increase the absorption of some antibiotics, such as amoxicillin and tetracyclines, so mention it if you are prescribed one.
• Use Phlogenzyme Tablet during pregnancy or breastfeeding only after speaking to your doctor.

Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack until use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
