Uses of Simulect 20mg Tablet

Simulect 20mg Tablet is used to help prevent the body from rejecting a newly transplanted kidney. It is given around the time of the transplant operation, as part of a combination with other anti-rejection medicines such as ciclosporin and corticosteroids. It lowers the risk of early, acute rejection in the first weeks after surgery, when the immune system is most likely to attack the new organ.

How Simulect 20mg Tablet works

Basiliximab is an antibody that attaches to the IL-2 receptor found on activated T cells, a type of white blood cell. By blocking this receptor, it stops these cells from multiplying in response to the new kidney, which dampens the immune attack that causes rejection.
