Bilagol – L 67 gm / 100 ml Syrup is a syrup made by Schazoo Laboratories Ltd that contains Lactulose 67g, an osmotic laxative. It is used for constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. Pack size: 120 ml syrup.

Bilagol – L 67 gm / 100 ml Syrup is used to treat constipation in adults and children, and in higher doses, prescribed by a doctor, to treat and prevent hepatic encephalopathy (confusion caused by liver disease).

How Bilagol – L 67 gm / 100 ml Syrup works

Lactulose is a sugar that is not absorbed. It draws water into the bowel, softening stools, and in liver disease it lowers the absorption of ammonia from the gut.

Common side effects of Bilagol – L 67 gm / 100 ml Syrup include:

• Wind and bloating
• Stomach cramps
• Diarrhoea at higher doses
• Nausea

See a doctor if diarrhoea is severe or you feel dizzy or weak from fluid loss.

Precautions and warnings

• It can take 24 to 48 hours to work.
• Drink plenty of fluids while using it.
• Tell your doctor if you have galactosaemia or diabetes.
• See a doctor if constipation lasts more than a week or comes with pain, bleeding or weight loss.

Storage
